Not many news and Bee Contest Winners

Not to many news to tell. My eyes are sometimes better, sometimes worser again. *sighs* I'm taking more care again to drink enough reasonable beverages (= water, fruit tea and fruit juices with water). Today I was photographing in my newly favourite forest, but not very long. Afterwards I went to my favourite MUD's group of regulars. It was a fine evening, meeting friends. :-) Later on I will go on painting my RH entry. I'm afraid my planned forest will melt down to merely one or two trees... :blushes:

Update: My eyes finally got better, at least today! I hardly saw blurry today. Regarding my picture I'm still struggling to paint at least one decent tree I don't have to be too ashamed of. :blushes: I hope, I'll manage that task! The tutorial seemed to be quite easy. But I've had to find out that trees aren't easy at all to paint. *sighs*

Things to do:
- write my journal entry for my texture project
- start submitting the textures after writing that journal entry
- go on making my entry for the Resource hunter team
- I wanted to take part in at least one of the contests ending on April 30th. I should speed up... :-(
- submit more stock photos

I've still got plans for making more Literature Templates. Besides: if you happen to be a writer on DA and want to print your literature, then I'd really appreciate constructive criticism on my Template. I've added a thread regarding this theme in my forum. Please feel welcome to comment there! :-)

Contest pimping
:bulletpurple: I'd like to pimp a contest. Many of you might already know it and some surely have taken part. It's about one image, one week time and your creativity. I'm talking of the createbyweek weekly contest, run by #createbyweek, of course. Deadline: you get a new chance every week. Sounds good, doesn't it? ;-)

:bulletpurple: There's a contest hold by one of my new DA friends. If you're a fan of the Art Noveau style, then go and visit `shelldevils page. She's hosting a contest to celebrate her 4th year as a stocker on DA. The contest theme is Mucha! Deadline is June 29.

:bulletpurple: One of my oldest DA-friends ~Cat-in-the-Stock (actually I owe to him and `UnicornReality the feeling of deviantART becoming a home for me) is also hosting a contest with ~little-stock themed A New Dawn. He gives some hints for interpretations yet the interpretation and genre is all up to you! The Closing date is April 30th.

:bulletpurple: Another contest is hosted by my dA-friend =Drezdany-stocks and it's theme is "create a new world" As =Drezdany-stocks puts it: "Give your fancy full scope. You can create any new animals, flying fishes, a lila meadow, a squared moon or whatever your fantasy showing.". The end date will be April 30th at 12pm CST. Meanwhile she's got a stamp for it:

:bulletpurple: And then my dA-friend !CSnyder is also holding a contest. With his   "Creativity With Stock" he wants to show his appreciation to us stockers. This contest has started on Apr 4, 2008 and will end on Friday March 2nd, 12 midnight EST.

:new::bulletpurple: A new contest started today. It's the "Technology & Nature" Contest hold by =kuschelirmel-stock, lasting until June 27th 2008 midnight Berlin time. To sum it up in `kuschelirmel's words: "This contest is all about bringing nature and technology into one photomanip or digital mixed media piece."

Have a look at these contests, grab your graph tablet and enter! :-)

I'm cheating by not using photos ;) The only photo used in that was a rust texture.

Oh right... I forgot... you were the one who build a 3D model for the scenery in Blender. By the way: is Blender difficult to understand? I'm about to try it out some day. ;-)

:iconpfors:
Nah, it's not too difficult. The interface isn't entirely intuitive and you need to learn some keyboard shortcuts, so start out with a couple of the beginner tutorials. Blender is packed with features, so after you get the hang of the basics (interface, basic mesh modeling, lighting and rendering) you may want to look up some tutorials for more advanced things like fluid simulation, particle systems etc.

That really sounds thrilling. :excited: I've spent some hours browsing the tutorial category last night and I've found and faved several tutorials. Now I just need to settle down and clear enough space on my hard drive to install it. Oh, one more question: how big do those files that one's creates with 3D tools get? 3D design is a totally unknown realm for me, but I really would like to gain a foothold in it. :)

:iconpfors:
On that score Blender is a good choice as both the program itself and the files require very little disk space. I doubt you'll need more than 20 MB or so to start with.
Some things take more space, the files saved during fluid simulations can take up some and of course long animations require quite a bit of space, but mostly you'll be looking at pretty small files.
